Adela Balima 
Adela Balima is a skilled professional recorder player and teacher who has studied in Czechia & France under established teachers like Jitka Konecna, Sabine Weil & Agnes Lacornerie.  She has won several prizes in contests.  She is currently a member of the recorder ensemble Sine Nomine. From 2005 to 2017, she was a member of the group Marnatosnaha which plays medieval, renaissance, folk, and christian genres.  She has also been honored to play with the ensembles Flauto Dolce, Layhill Trio, Zephyros, and the North Carolina Baroque Orchestra.  For more information, visit adelabalima.com.

 
David McGown 
David McGown started playing recorder in college in 1974 in addition to being an avid brass player (trumpet, French horn) in secondary school and college.  He has degrees in both Music (specializing in Early Music) and Engineering.  He was a founding member of the New River Consort in Blacksburg, VA from 1979-1983, performing throughout Virginia, also performed as a recorder and cornetto player at Busch Gardens in Williamsburg, VA.  After a long period of inactivity, he returned to recorder playing as serious avocation several years ago, and joined WRS soon afterwards.  He studies with Gwyn Roberts, is a regular attendee of Amherst Early Music workshops, playing in masterclasses under the tutelage of  top professional recorder professionals.  He has performed professionally at the Shenandoah Bach Festival and the Maryland Renaissance Festival.  He has played in a number of local amateur early music groups/recorder consorts, but most regularly with Sine Nomine, based in Columbia, MD.  He is a member of the WRS Board, and has served as Secretary.  In his spare time, he is an audiophile and designs and builds audio equipment (tube amplifiers, speakers, etc.).
